“This is Ranger Cole. I need immediate backup. I’ve found something… unusual. Make sure they bring a large containment cage and tranquilizer darts,” he said urgently into the radio. Before the dispatcher could respond, Cole added, “Also, have someone from the nearby wildlife center come along.”

“Understood. Stay where you are. Help is on the way,” the operator finally replied. But Cole had no intention of simply standing by and waiting.

Refusing To Wait

Ranger Cole knew he couldn’t just stand there—he had to get closer. The creature was clearly struggling in the thick mud along the riverbank, its movements growing more labored by the minute. It slipped repeatedly, nearly tumbling back into the water each time.

Cole realized he needed to find a way to cross the river and reach it before things got worse.
