The Groke from Moomins barely spoke, but her silence made her frightening. She appeared slowly, bringing cold and sadness with her. Characters avoided her without explaining why. Kids picked up on that fear instantly. She felt like loneliness given a shape, which is a heavy idea for a child.

Mr Blobby (Noel’s House Party, 1992)

Mr Blobby from Noel’s House Party looked like a joke gone wrong. He was huge, loud, and moved without warning, smashing into walls while shouting his own name. Nothing he did felt planned or friendly. For many kids, he felt less like a mascot and more like chaos in a costume.
